Ole Kirk Kristiansen, a Danish carpenter, came up with the idea for Lego bricks in 1958. However, visitors who came to see what they could create with Lego blocks were often halted by the Lego personnel. As a result, someone had the brilliant idea of creating a park where people could construct structures out of bricks. The first Legoland Discovery Center opened its doors in Berlin in 2007. 12 Legoland Discovery Centers have opened their doors worldwide since then. The Legoland Discovery Center Westchester first opened its doors in March of this year.
