Hudson River Museum
The Hudson River Museum, situated in Trevor Park in Yonkers, New York, is the biggest in Westchester County and is the largest Museum in the state of New York. The Yonkers Museum, which was established in 1919 in City Hall and later became the Hudson River Museum, was established in 1948. While the Museum is sometimes referred to as an art museum because of its enormous collection of works by artists associated with the Hudson River School, it also has exhibitions on the history, science, and legacy of the area. A fantastic post.
The Museum provides a variety of engaging activities for visitors of all ages and interests. Wander through our permanent collection and changing exhibitions of American art, ranging from nineteenth-century Hudson River School paintings to contemporary art installations, and explore Gilded Age decorative arts in our historic home, Glenview (built-in 1877 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places).
Are you interested in science and astronomy? In our state-of-the-art Planetarium, which is the only public Planetarium in Westchester County, you may learn about the mysteries and discoveries that have been made about the universe. In addition, Hudson Riverama is a hands-on environmental learning gallery that examines the history and ecology of the Hudson River. It’s a great place to learn everything about the Hudson River.
Modern-day visitors can enjoy imaginative and thought-provoking exhibitions of contemporary and historical art, the Museum’s ever-evolving permanent collection, the ongoing restoration and interpretation of Glenview Mansion, groundbreaking exhibits about regional history, and hands-on science and art programs for children of all ages. The Museum is pleased to be able to contribute back to the community in which it has prospered.
